The ProDrive System wins over Dental Products Report Technology Editor Dr. John Flucke
after product test drive.
· Dental patients experience less tooth trauma and postoperative discomfort from ProDrive’s superior design and improved concentricity of spinning parts, reducing heat and vibration while cutting.
· Patented ProDrive products evolve the performance of industry-leading dental handpiece brands, and work in combination with proprietary burs. ProDrive products provide a simple solution for dentists to upgrade the performance of their existing and preferred brand handpieces without incurring costly and complex changes in their offices.
· ProDrive improves the speed and precision of the cut, providing significant clinical and practice improvements for dentistry.
· ProDrive’s patented triangular handpiece chuck and bur system will become the standard in dentistry, displacing current friction grip systems found in all high speed handpieces.
· ProDrive products are expected to be licensed and integrated into industry-leading brands in 2010.
Montreal, January 27, 2010 – ProDrive Systems named as a top 5 game changer in the dental field by technology writer for Dental Product Report, Dr. John Flucke. A next generation, cutting-edge product, ProDrive is listed among top products that will make dentists more productive, improve the patient experience and help dentists practice more efficiently. Dr Flucke writes, “Say hello to ProDrive! By replacing the round bur chuck with a triangular [design] and a triangular shank bur, the ProDrive turbine increases torque and cutting efficiency”.
In the January 2010 issue of Dental Products Report, ProDrive Systems is reviewed in the Clinical 360° technology section, pages 28 - 32. In the article, “Taking ProDrive for a spin”, Dr. John Flucke describes ProDrive as “a simple improvement to everyday handpiece technology [that] can lead to new efficiencies” and “adopting these [ProDrive] upgrades can produce better outcomes for clinicians and patients”.
Acknowledging the fact that the air-driven high-speed handpiece has not seen product advancements or improvements since the mid-20th century, Dr Flucke sets out on a clinical test drive of ProDrive. “The handpieces were identical other than the turbines. I spent two weeks running the test. I prepared all crowns using the two handpieces in a side-by-side comparison. I would perform half the lingual reduction with one handpiece and then the other half with the other. I repeated this process on every surface. Although I was skeptical before the trial began, I quickly was aware of a noticeable difference in efficiency with the ProDrive turbine.”
Dr Flucke identifies ProDrive’s revolutionary triangular chuck and bur as slight, yet profound. The lack of bur slippage inside the chuck because of the mechanically locked design is a definite advantage of the ProDrive System. “This allows all the energy developed by the turbine to be delivered to the actual process of tooth preparation, and thereby allows the ProDrive Turbine to cut more efficiently with less chatter.” Noting the unique ProDrive bur-lengthening feature, Dr Flucke says “The bur shanks also have two concentric grooves that allow you to extend the bur—with the rings locking it in place—to allow you to continue cutting with the same bur but with a longer shank and without concern of it ‘walking out’ of the chuck.”
At the end of the trial, Dr. Flucke “was so impressed with the product I upgraded 10 handpieces to ProDrive turbines.”
